What is a color change wrap? In today's market, the term "wraps" means to change a vehicle's color with a thin flexible film called vinyl film. The process is known by various terms in the industry such as paint replacement wraps, paint wraps, and color change wraps. In this scenario we will use the term "Color Change Films." This term does not imply that the film is going to perform just like paint unlike the other terms. When the term paint replacement or paint wrap are utilized, it implies a customers expectations that vinyl will act like paint. Vinyl wrap films have many benefits over repainting a vehicles exterior. The appropriate expectations need to be addressed with the customer before installation of the vehicle wrap.

Some New specialty vehicles have sophisticated finishes such as matte, pearl or shade shifting paint. These modernized finishes can cost thousands of dollars more than full a wrap. In these instances, it may be more cost effective to go with a standard factory finish and then customized the vehicle with a color change wrap of your liking.

The vinyl wrap films come in many finishes, solid color gloss, metallic gloss, solid color matte and matte metallics. There areTextured options as well. Many Mfg are able to simulate brushed metal, carbon fiber, leather, ostrich and many more. These textured films are generally used as accents and trim, but often are used on vehicle hoods, trunks, mirror and door handles etc.

If the wrap is for a commercial vehicle, it is very likely that the owner will need to change the color of the vehicle again before resale. If the vehicle was wrapped, the wrap can be removed leaving a factory finish on the vehicle that helps increase its resale value.
